      <image:caption>I have a long-standing interest in somatic work. My journey began with my Zen Buddhist training at a monastery in Hawaii as a young adult. This training showed me that careful attention to the body and breath can be a gateway into a deeper understanding of oneself. I pursued an extensive study and practice of mind-body-spirit work using bodywork and somatic modalities to help refine my understanding of how embodiment can lead us toward a more complete and fulfilling sense of ourselves. In 2012, I founded Red Beard Somatic Therapy, where I began incorporating neurobiological work to create an aligned, comprehensive approach to supporting clients who experienced different facets of trauma in their lives. In 2024, I co-founded Neurogenic Integration, an international education company focused on neurogenic tremoring, TRE, and related somatic approaches. The different modalities I use help clients understand their internal selves, identify their inner landscape, and better understand why they feel, act, and react the way they do. This supports you in creating a more harmonious relationship with your inner self and allows you to grow, heal, and find balance in your life.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>It’s a set of six exercises that help to release deep tension from the body by evoking a self-controlled muscular shaking process in the body called neurogenic muscle tremors. The uniqueness of this technique is that this shaking originates deep in the core of the body of the psoas muscles. These gentle tremors reverberate outwards along the spine, releasing tension from the sacrum to the cranium. TRE is a mechanism for releasing deep muscular stress and tension held within the body. More specifically, it is a physical practice that activates a natural reflex mechanism of vibration deep within the body. This sustained vibration allows the body and the nervous system to be calmed, restoring a grounded sense within the body. What is the idea behind TRE? TRE is based within the assumption that the experience of everyday stress and prior trauma express themselves in our body in BOTH psychological and physical ways. A few physical manifestations of stress include muscle tension, soreness, pain, headaches, difficulty sleeping, diarrhea, or constipation. TRE allows one to release some amount of everyday stress and built-up trauma in the body through physical exercise that can be practiced in the home. Tension release in the body often leads the brain to register a reduction in the fight or flight signals, contributing to decreased stress and pain. Will TRE help me? TRE is best seen as a tool for self-care, complementary to other wellness practices. Once learned through a trained practitioner, TRE can be used as needed, throughout one’s life, as a tool applied at home. Reported benefits of the practice include, but are not limited to, decreased anxiety, reduced symptoms of PTSD, improved relationships, more energy, better sleep, increased flexibility, healing of old injuries, less workplace stress, and greater emotional resiliency.       <image:title>About - Hello, I’m Alex Greene</image:title>
      <image:caption>As a bodyworker, somatic coach, educator, and nervous system specialist (and also a Zen priest), my passion is working with others to discover the wisdom and capacity that can be found by attending to one’s own embodied self. In my early twenties, I spent three years living at a Zen monastery in Honolulu, Hawaii. When I began my formal training I received the instruction that “the meaning of life can be discovered through the refinement of breath and posture.” In the 21 years since, I have been on a mission to continually deepen my understanding of what this means, and how to support others to follow a similar path of self-discovery. I use a variety of tools with my clients drawing from my diverse training in coaching, meditation, nervous system regulation, movement education, energy medicine, and more. My goal is to empower people to discover their own capacity for healing, grounded embodiment, emotional self-understanding, and clear communication. I have been fortunate to live and travel in many parts of the world, and I’m pleased to support people internationally through the recent acceleration of virtual work. I currently live in Boulder, Colorado at the edge of the Rocky Mountains with my wife Vanessa Allard (also a somatic coach!), and our two daughters.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>As I progressed in full bodywork, the innate connection between the body, mind, and nervous system, especially when dealing with trauma, had to be supported. This led to my exploration and training in neurobiological work, exploring and learning about the connection between psycho-emotional trauma and bodywork.  As people, we are connected through our mind, body, spirit, and nervous system, so treating our entire system is key to healing. This led to my work and certification in TRE, Somatic Experience, Safe and Sound Protocol, NARM -NeuroAffective Relational Model, and Internal Family Systems practitioner, allowing me to provide a nervous system-oriented approach to assist clients in overcoming trauma and promote psycho-emotional growth and well-being.
